After sketching out the best Idea in illustrator, I brought th project to after effects where a majority of work was done. Adding the “Saber” effect I created the glow then I made a custom CRT overlay using tiny masks and lines. In the end It tool a lot of trial and error for the proper color to come out. The flickering was an issue and something I had to go back to a lot but in the end I believe it was pretty sucsessful.
This was a logo I created for a group I work with based out of New Bedford. For this project they asked if I could make them a logo, requesting for is to have a rough, CRT, and glowing look.

What I Learned
The Work
Originally the group used an AI generated logo with bold stylized letters and abstract shapes though I didn’t mind the colors and form of the logo it obviously looked AI and needed a makeover so first I went to the drawing board and sketched out many options for a new look, some similar to the old logo some varying greatly.
Process
This projects also allowed me to hone in on my after effects. This was my first real challenge on the software, forcing me to experiment with different plug-ins and effects to get the CRT the clients wanted. One effect I got into with this project was the “Saber” plug-in. it allows you to make anything from fire, to neon effects. The plug-in also has much more customizable options than normal effects and presets. I used it to create the neon effect and will b looking to use it again when the time calls for it.
Still from animation
Overall this was a great project. It allowed me to work more with plug-ins in After Effects as well as this project allowed me to work with clients and get used to client feedback on a deeper level than I had gotten before.
During our meetings we discussed the overall feel and the look the clients wanted. Sketching out a lot early defiantly helped while working with others., showing them my work allowed me to more accurately produce what they were looking for. Sketching in such detail is defiantly something I’m going to keep up in my next client work.
