For this Project I created Better Burger, a fast good chain focused on bringing its customers cheap and healthy food. The advertisement points out hypocrisies in modern fast food rebrands. Packaging themselves as “New” and “Fresh” but keeping all the unhealthy aspect of fast food.
AI Elements
Originally I set up lighting and a scene to shoot my own pictures but food photography is a profession of its own, and something that takes years of experience to master. As critique day rolled around, I had AI place holders, still planning on finishing my own shooting. But as I got feedback many of my peers and critics recommended I keep these AI elements siting that they “fit the uncanny and satirical feel” I was going for. To this I agreed and left them in. Not only did I gain valuable experience using generative AI. But I also used it as a tool to not replace my design, but bring more attention to it.
Process
I had this idea long before I began to sketch. Struggling a great deal on the logo, it took me a while to find the “vibe” I wanted, but once I did I flew through it. Because of the simple repetitive visuals, as well as my love for this ad, I completed it in just under two weeks. This allowed me to go back and spend more time on the humor in the advertisement not just the visuals.
Narrative and Message
Iv’e always been interested with fast food advertising. We all know it’s not healthy, yet much of the branding is marketed as so. The sleek branding and catchy (somethings annoying) music is what I wanted to focus on. I also wanted to add as many small details as I could. Latter adding the bottom text which you can see in many modern day advertisements. Overall this might be my favorite ad i’ve made so far. I find the clean and fun look matches with the shocking and humorous AI burgers well. Not to mention the music which I was very lucky to find, its tone and repetitiveness also suits the video greatly. Thank you Adobe Stock!
